Highest Single-Day Spike With 47,262 Covid Cases & 275 Deaths In India

New-Delhi: India on Wednesday reported its highest single-day spike in 2021 with 47,262 new COVID-19 cases, 23,907 recoveries, and 275 deaths in the last 24 hours, said the Union health ministry.

With this spike, the total infection tally jumped to 1,17,34,058 with 1,12,05,160 total recoveries.The death toll in the country has reached 1,60,441 with 275 more people succumbing to the disease in the same duration

A total of 5,08,41,286 vaccine doses have been given so far.

Maharashtra, Punjab, Karnataka, Gujarat, Chhattisgarh and Tamil Nadu have reported a surge in new infections and accounted for 80.90% of the cases.

Among these, Maharashtra continues to be the biggest contributor as the state clocked in 28,699 fresh infections in the last 24 hours.

According to Indian Council of Medical Research, a total of 23,64,38,861 samples tested for COVID 19 up to 23rd March, 2021. Of these, 10,25,628 samples were tested yesterday.
