Govt To Launch Bihar-Delhi AC Buses In 2 Weeks

New Delhi: In order to bring relief to lakhs of Bihari migrants working in Delhi, the Bihar Transport Department has decided to run Air conditioned luxury Volvo buses between Bihar and Delhi in two weeks. The buses will run between Anand Vihar ISBT in Delhi to various cities of Bihar.

The bus service, first of its kind, would bring relief to migrants workers from Bihar who find it extremely difficult to travel to the national capital as trains in the route are overbooked all round the year.

A Senior Official from the Delhi Transport Department said, “The buses will be operated by the Bihar transport department and will run from the Anand Vihar ISBT in Delhi. The Bihar government had written to us on November 22. Accordingly, on December 6, we issued permits to begin the service.”

The bus service is likely to be launched around December 25, on Christmas Day. Two buses each will leave from Delhi and Patna every day around afternoon. Apart from being air-conditioned, the buses will have low-floors with mobile charging points, GPS tracking systems, CCTV and LED TVs.

In the second phase, more AC buses will be introduced from Delhi to other districts of Bihar, including Muzzafarpur, Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Gaya, Kishanganj, and Purnia. The travel time will be about 16-18 hours for the approximate 1,065 km journey. The number of buses will be increased in January.
