Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal tests positive for COVID-19

New Delhi: The Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal has tested positive for Covid-19. Reportedly, he informed the same on his official Twitter account this morning.

“I have tested positive for Covid. Mild symptoms. Have isolated myself at home. Those who came in touch with me in last few days, kindly isolate yourself and get yourself tested,” the CM tweeted.

Earlier on Monday, Delhi recorded 4,099 new Covid-19 cases as the positivity rate in the national capital breached the 5% mark and rose to 6.46%. As per the Graded Action Response Plan (GRAP) protocol, a positivity rate of over 5% for two straight days would trigger a “red alert” leading to a “total curfew”.

It is noteworthy that the Omicron variant is driving most of the cases in Delhi. Delhi currently has 351 cases of Omicron cases.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendar Jain Monday said over 81% of the total samples sequenced over the last two days were found to have the Omicron variant. Of the 187 samples sequenced in the two days, 152 were classified as omicron, as per the data shared by the Delhi government.
