BJP MP Tirath Singh Rawat To Be The New Uttarakhand CM

Dehradun: BJP MP Tirath Singh Rawat on Wednesday has been appointed as the new Chief Minister of Uttarakhand after the resignation on Tuesday of Trivendra Singh Rawat.

He will take oath as the chief minister at 4 pm today.

The 56-year-old is MP from Garhwal in Uttarakhand. His name was picked over prominent candidates including Union Minister Ramesh Pokhriyal Nishank and Uttarakhand Minister Dhan Singh Rawat.

He was the chief of the party in Uttarakhand in 2013-15 and also an MLA from the state in the past.
