Bar Dancer Abused For Refusing Sexual Favour to Customers

Hyderabad: On Sunday, a bar dancer in Hyderabad was allegedly abused by four of her fellow woman dancers and a man for refusing to do sexual favour to customers.

Panjagutta police have arrested the four women involved in the incident but the man involved has managed to abscond and the police haven’t gotten a hold of him still. Efforts are on to arrest him, police said.

According to Panjagutta police, they made the arrest acting on the complaint of the woman dancer who alleges that the Bar at Begumpet, which she joined a few months back, was harassing her to take requests from customers and extend sexual favour towards them. Post to that when she refused to do so, she was stripped and beaten by five of her colleagues which includes one man and four other women.

“Recently, the management of the bar started asking her to visit customers and perform sexual activities with them,” the police report said.

Mahender Reddy, Director General of Police (DGP) Telangana has asked for a detailed report following the incident.

The accused were booked under the Indian Penal Code Section 354 (Assault on woman with intent to outrage her modesty), Section 509 (Act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), Section 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) read with Section 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
