While addressing at the inaugural session of the GPAI Summit in New Delhi, PM Modi termed AI to be capable of destroying the 21st century.

New Delhi: While addressing at the inaugural session of the Global Partnership on AI Summit in New Delhi, Prime Minister Narendra Modi put forward the harmful side of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and termed it to be capable of destroying the 21st century. PM Modi called for countries to work together on a global framework that will help to make use of AI more responsibly.

“AI has lots of positivity but at the same time its negatives are very much dangerous,” PM Modi said while speaking at the inaugural session of the Global Partnership on AI Summit in New Delhi today.

“AI can easily destroy the 21st century,” he added.

“If terrorist organisations start using AI as weapons then it will be a threat to global security. There should be discussions and a conclusion should be arrived at on how wrong uses of AI can be prohibited,” PM Modi further stated.

Additionally, the PM said, “There was an understanding that arrived at during G20, that in the same vein how the world has protocols on various subjects, there should be protocols for AI too.”

Keeping this in mind, the government is set to launch an AI Mission that will focus on establishing AI computing to help startups. This mission will also focus on helping the education, agriculture and healthcare sectors, PM Modi said.
