Abhishek Banerjee to replace Mamata Banerjee as CM of West Bengal, says TMC spokesman

TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee will replace her as the Chief Minister of West Bengal.

Kolkata: In a recent press conference, Trinamool Congress (TMC) spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s nephew will replace her as the Chief Minister of the state.

Speaking to the media at Chuchura in Hooghly district, Kunal Ghosh stated that Mamata Banerjee will continue to serve until 2036. She will be succeeded by her nephew Abhishek Banerjee.

“We are confirming that we will contest under Mamata Banerjee’s leadership. Meanwhile, Abhishek Banerjee will be the general. She will be the CM until 2036 and then the baton will be passed to Abhishek,” said the TMC spokesperson.

Mamata Banerjee has been Chief Minister of West Bengal for three terms by now. She was first elected as the CM in 2011. Mamata Banerjee is also second longest serving woman Chief Minister, while Shiela Dikshit stands first in the list by serving as Chief Minister of Delhi for 15 years and 25 days.
