Baramulla: Three terrorists killed in an encounter in Sopore of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir on Tuesday in a firing fight that lasted for hours between the security forces and the terror groups said Jammu & Kashmir Police.
The encounter broke out in Sopore on this morning.
On the basis of reliable information about presence of terrorists, a joint team of the police and the army cordoned off the area and launched a search operation. The civilians were evacuated from the region when the operation to capture the area which has terror camps began.
Then the search team closed in on the suspected spot, the hiding terrorists fired upon security forces, triggering the encounter, during which the former were given an opportunity to surrender but they did not.
The security forces have recovered incriminating material, including arms & ammunition from the spot.
The encounter has now concluded, however the search operation is still underway, added reports.
