3 Militants, Including Killer Of Journalist Shujaat Bukhari Killed in Budgam
Srinagar: Two militants, including the one involved in the murder of ‘Rising Kashmir’ journalist Shujaat Bukhari have been gunned down by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam. One of the slain militants include Naveed Jatt, who had master-minded the murder of Bukhari in June this year.
The militants were killed in an encounter with security forces in Chattergam village of Budgam. The encounter is still underway and internet connectivity has been suspended in Budgam as precautionary measure.
This comes after three militants were gunned down by army in two separate encounters in Jammu and Kashmir’s Tral and Kulgam districts on Tuesday. An army jawaan was also martyred during the opeartions.
Notably, Shujaat Bukhari, editor-in-chief of Rising Kashmir, was shot dead by three bike-borne gunmen near the newspaper’s office at Lal Chowk in Srinagar. J&K Police had stated that two of the three gunmen were from Kashmir while the third was a Pakistani national. Two security personnel accompanying Bukhari were also killed in the attack.
