2 dead, 4 injured over love affair in Lakhisarai after returning from Chhath Ghat

Two members of the family were shot dead and four others sustained injuries after a man opened fire on them in Bihar

Patna: Atleast two members of the family were shot dead and four others sustained injuries after a man opened fire on them while they were returning after Chhath Puja celebrations in the Lakhisarai district of Bihar over love affair.

The incident took place in the Punjabi Mohalla area, under the jurisdiction of the Kabaiya police station in the district.

The deceased have been identified as Chandan Kumar and Rajnandan Kumar. The four injured while injured include Lovely Kumari, Preeti Kumari, Durga Kumari and Shashi Bhushan Kumar.

The injured individuals, three of whom are in critical condition, were immediately rushed from Begusarai Sadar Hospital to Patna for medical aid.

According to police, the firing took place related to love affair.

“Two members of a family were shot dead and four others were injured in Punjabi Mohalla under the Kabaiya police station of Lakhisarai. The incident took place when they were returning from Chhath Ghat after performing pooja. Three injured have been referred from Begusarai Sadar Hospital to Patna. The matter is related to a love affair. Police have reached the spot and an investigation is underway,” ANI quoted Kumar as saying.
