Spanish Lesbian couple makes history by both carrying and welcoming baby boy

A Spanish lesbian couple in the United Kingdoms has become parents to a baby boy, whom they carried during different stages of the pregnancy.

A Spanish lesbian couple in the United Kingdoms, Estefania (30) and Azahara (27), has become parents to a baby boy, Derek Eloy, whom they carried during different stages of the pregnancy. Derek was born in October through an innovative fertility treatment known as INVOcell.

The couple utilized the INVOcell procedure, starting the process in March. In this method, a small capsule, approximately the size of a thumb, containing eggs and sperm, is placed inside the vagina. The fertilization process within the capsule mirrors natural conception. The capsule remains inside the vagina for five days. After removal, the embryos are examined, selected, and then transferred into Azahara’s uterus for further development.

While the egg that developed into Derek was fertilized in Estefania ‘s womb, Azahara carried the baby for the full nine months. The couple’s shared pregnancy experience is a significant aspect of the INVOcell treatment. Azahara successfully gave birth to Derek via a c-section on October 30 in Palma, Majorca.

The couple underwent the pioneering fertility treatment at a cost of $5,489, covering the procedure and associated medications.

A doctor from the medical team involved in Derek’s birth highlighted the uniqueness of the process, stating, “The novelty in this process is that both could carry the embryo and share it for as long as needed.”
