Ramadan 2024 begins today, here’s timing for Sehri and Iftar for major cities of India

The holiest month of Islam, Ramadan has begun from today. As the Islamic calendar depends on the cycle of the moon, the month of Ramadan shifts by around 10 days every year. In Saudi Arabia, the month began on March 10, while in India the holy month began today (March 12). The Ramadan 1445 AH crescent moon has been seen in Hyderabad and Lucknow.

During this holy month, Muslims all across the globe fast from sunrise until sunset. During this time, the two main meals are Iftar, which is eaten after sunset, and Sehri, which is consumed before sunrise. The timing for both meals likewise fluctuates every day as they are based on the sunset.

These timings vary significantly in India due to the country’s huge geographic variations. So here are the timings for Sehri and Iftar in major Indian cities:

It is worth mentioning here that Muslims in the world’s southernmost nations will fast for roughly 12 hours, while those in the world’s northernmost nations will fast for 17 or more hours because the amount of daylight hours differs throughout the world.

Holy Ramadan starts in Odisha from today. Muslims will observe fast for the entire the month of Ramadan, said reports.  The month-long holy month of Ramadan has begun with Tarabi recitation from night.

Ramadan is a holy and religious month in Islam. It will start from March 12 and end on April 9. During this period, Muslims fast all day long during the month of Ramadan, which is called ‘roja’.

A decision has been taken by Anjuman Islamia Ahle Sunnat and Jamaat Odisha to start the month of Ramadan in Odisha. The Lucknow Chand Committee clarified the beginning of the month of Ramadan.

The fasting people observe the fast from sunrise to sunset for a month. At this time of Ramadan starts in Odisha, the Muslim brothers gather in different mosques and offer prayers.
