Mystery shrouded the death of an elderly man whose body was found near Ghatagaon filling station in Keonjhar district. The death came to light after some locals who visited the filling station on Thursday morning spotted the body lying on the roadside and immediately rang up police and fire services personnel.

  1. Miscreants snatch Rs 1.5 lakh after hacking trader in Angul

In yet another highway loot incident in the State, unidentified miscreants snatched away Rs 1.5 lakh after attacking and injuring a trader near Amantpur under Jarapada police limits in Angul district today. The victim has been identified as Digambar Sahu of Sabalabhanga village.

  1. Rajanikant Singh elected Deputy Speaker of Odisha Assembly

Three-time Angul MLA Rajanikant Singh has been elected as the new Deputy Speaker of Odisha Assembly today creating major news headlines. The proposal for Singh’s name was tabled by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik during the Zero Hour of the House on the third day of the Budget Session in the morning and supported by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister Bikram Keshari Arukh and other members of the House.

  1. Rath Yatra 2019: Railways To Run 194 Special Trains, Open 60 Extra Ticket Counters

In order to effectively tackle the huge rush of tourists and devotees to Puri during the annual Rath Yatra festival from July 4 to 13 this year, the East Coast Railways (ECoR) will be running 194 special trains besides the regular trains. 60 extra ticket counters will be opened for the convenience of the travellers. The decision was taken at a meeting of the Railway officials held at the office of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), ECoR, Khurda Road.

  1. Centenarian Odia freedom fighter Mohammed Bazi passes away

Centenarian freedom fighter Mohammed Bazi breathed his last at his residence at Sunari Sahi in Nabarangpur district. He was 102. Bazi who had celebrated his birth centenary in the year 2017 was suffering from old age related ailments for the past few years.

  1. Haryana Congress Leader Shot Dead Outside Gym In Faridabad

Haryana Congress leader Vikas Chaudhary was shot dead by unidentified assailants Thursday morning in Faridabad. It can be seen in the CCTV footage that two assailants approached Vikas and fired multiple numbers of bullets at him.  Vikas was immediately rushed to the local hospital, but he could not survive.

  1. Jharkhand Mob Lynching: US Body Condemns ‘Brutal’ Murder Of Tabrez Ansari

The news headlines suggest, the USCIRF on Wednesday strongly condemned the lynching of a Muslim man in Jharkhand and called on the Narendra Modi government to take strong actions to prevent this kind of violence and intimidation. Tabrez Ansari, 24, was allegedly tied to a pole and thrashed with sticks by a mob at Dhatkidih village in Jharkhand’s Seraikela Kharsawan district last Wednesday on the suspicion of theft.
