Rath Yatra 2019: Railways To Run 194 Special Trains, Open 60 Extra Ticket Counters

Bhubaneswar: In order to effectively tackle the huge rush of tourists and devotees to Puri during the annual Rath Yatra festival from July 4 to 13 this year, the East Coast Railways (ECoR) will be running 194 special trains besides the regular trains.

Furthermore, 60 extra ticket counters will be opened for the convenience of the travellers.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the Railway officials held at the office of Divisional Railway Manager (DRM), ECoR, Khurda Road.

The DRM of ECoR Khurda Road Division Sashikant Singh said, “We are running more trains and going to open extra ticket counters to tackle the rush. For the safety and security of passengers, drone cameras, sniffer dogs, luggage scanning machine, and metal detectors will be used this time.”

Apart from this, a large contingent of Railway Protection Force (RPF), Government Railway Police (GRP) officers and jawans will be mobilised for round the clock deployment during the entire period of the Rath Yatra, he added.
