Haryana Congress Leader Shot Dead Outside Gym In Faridabad

New Delhi: Haryana Congress leader Vikas Chaudhary was shot dead by unidentified assailants this morning in Faridabad. Officials said the incident took place at around 9:00 am in the morning while Chaudhary was parking his vehicle outside a gym in Faridabad’s Sector 9.

It can be seen in the CCTV footage that two assailants approached Vikas and fired multiple numbers of bullets at him. While one fired at him through the windshield, the other approached him from the driver’s side and shot at him.

Police said that four men travelling in a Maruti Suzuki SX4 car fired more than 10 bullets at the Congress leader.

Vikas was immediately rushed to the local hospital, but he could not survive. “Doctors tried their best to save him… Our entire team was there but he had been shot too many times… We could not save him,” Dr Saurabh said.

An autopsy report would give a better picture regarding the number of bullets used on the young politician, Dr Saurabh added.

Post the gruesome incident,  the state Congress hit out at the Manohar Lal Khattar-led BJP government over law and order in the state. “It’s ‘jungle raj’, there is no fear of law. The same kind of incident happened yesterday, where a woman who opposed molestation was stabbed. There should be an investigation,” Haryana Congress president Ashok Tanwar was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

“We are deeply angered and saddened by this act of grotesque violence against a member of the Congress Party. We urge the Haryana government to bring the perpetrators to justice at the earliest. Our sincere condolences to his family in this time of grief,” the Congress tweeted.

Vikas Chaudhary, 38,  was known to be close to Haryana Congress chief Ashok Tanwar. He started his political career with the Indian National Lok Dal before joining Congress in 2015, after the INLD ignored his claim for a ticket in Haryana’s Assembly Election.
