Patna: “I want divorce from my wife because she never takes a bathe” – a young man from Bihar has argued with such a strange reason to get divorce from his wife.
As per reports, the couple was married a year ago. Post marriage the young man noticed that his wife never takes a bath and hence smells awfully. He tried his best to make the wife change her habit and maintain hygiene but in vain. Being irritated he started beating his wife at times.
Recently the wife complained of domestic violence with the Women’s commission in Patna. Acting upon the complaint the commission sent notice to her husband. Her husband appeared before the commission and argued that his wife never takes a bath. He also said that on many occasions he has bought shampoo for her wife so that she would wash her hair. But the woman washes clothes with the shampoo.
The commission was shocked to hear the strange plea of the husband. However, it heard both of them and gave the wife a month’s time. The commission asked that further action will be taken if there will not be any improvement.
We have heard of reasons like honesty or neglect in house chores for divorce. However, perhaps this is for the first time that we witness a case where a husband seeks divorce since his wife never takes a bath.
