Every subscriber is given a UAN to check the EPF money. Through this UAN, you can operate your balance, PF account, or take advantage of any other facility.
This 12-digit UAN number always remains the same even if you change your job as many times as you want. However, every time you become a new member of a company, the EPFO issues a new EPFO number for your references.
There are several PF account holders who have not got their UAN number or those who have received it, they have not activated it. Let us tell you that UAN number is very important for the serviceman. Through this, details of provident fund account can be found. If you do not know your UAN, you can find it from the EPFO website.
Once the UAN is activated, your work will become easier. Through UAN you get the facility of online PF transfer, check balance, and withdrawal. All your old and new accounts appear in this UAN.
Know how to activate UAN on EPFO portal:

- First of all, visit the official portal of EPFO (epfindia.gov.in)
- Select ‘Our Services’ and click on ‘For employees’
- Click on ‘Activate your UAN’ (located under ‘Important Links’ on the right-hand side)
- Enter your basic details like UAN, Name, Date of birth, Mobile number and captcha, click on ‘Get Authorization pin’
- After this you will get an OTP on the registered number. Click on ‘I Agree’ and enter the OTP.
- Finally, click on ‘Validate OTP and Activate UAN’

It is to be noted here that the EPFO has introduced different means through which for the employees can know their PF account.

- The users can get information related to their PF account through phone numbers. For this, you only have to give a missed call by dialing 011 229 01 406. But remember that the phone number you are calling from should be registered with the EPFO.
- You also can get this information through SMS. For this, the active members will have to type ‘EPFOHO UAN’ and send it to 7738299899.
