Tanushree Dutta Accuses Nana Patekar Of Harassment, Being Disrespectful Towards Women

Mumbai: Actress and former Miss India Tanushree Dutta has returned to India after living in the US for years. The actress, who is looking forward to life with a refined perspective recently opened up about the sexual harassment she faced at the hands of Nana Patekar on the sets of ‘Horn OK Pleassss.’

The incident which took place in 2008 had become a national drama on TV with Tanushree’s car being bombarded and her family allegedly threatened by political parties associated with Nana. The actress had publicly slammed Nana Patekar for sexual misconduct and even accused the producers and choreographer Ganesh Acharya of encouraging Nana’s inappropriate behaviour on the sets.

In an interview with Hindi entertainment channel Zoom TV Tanushree said, “Everyone knows about Nana Patekar… that he has always been disrespectful towards women. People in the industry know about his background, that he has beaten actresses, he has molested them, his behaviour with women has always been crude but no publication has printed anything about it.”

Recalling the incident, Tanushree said she was inappropriately touched, mistreated and harassed on the sets of Horn OK Pleassss. She also accused Ganesh Acharya of being complicit in the crime as he stood by silently witnessing the harassment instead of coming to her aide. However, Ganesh Acharya has responded to her allegations and claimed that it was a ‘misunderstanding.’

Tanushree also called on actors like Akshay Kumar and Rajinikanth for working with Nana and said, “If such big stars will keep working with these culprits then there’s no hope for any movement to happen.”

Post her statements, some have praised Tanushree for talking about the sexual harassment she was subjected to. On the other hand, the actress has drawn flak from some who are questioning the relevance of talking about something that happened a decade back.

Notably, Tanushree Dutta made her debut in 2005 with Aashiq Banaya Aapne. She was later seen in films like Raqeeb, Good Boy Bad Boy, Dhol, Saas Bahu aur Sensex and Rama-The Saviour. Her last screen appearance was in Apartment which released in 2010.
