Sidharth Malhotra To Play Double Role In Vikram Batra Biopic
Mumbai: Sidharth Malhotra, who was last seen in ‘Aiyaary’ is currently shooting for ‘Marjaavan’ alongside Rakul Preet Singh, Riteish Deshmukh and Tara Sutaria. As per reports, the handsome actor will start the Vikram Batra biopic once he wraps up ‘Marjaavan’.
The Vikram Batra biopic is being produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions. Sidharth will be playing a double role in the film as he will essay the part of Vikram as well as his twin brother Vishal. The actor is expected to bring about a change in the way he looks for the role by the end of this year.
Directed by Vishnuwardhan, a major portion of the film will reportedly be shot in Ladakh. Reports also suggest that the film is likely to be called ‘Sher Khan’ as Vikram Batra was called that in the intercepted messages of the Pakistan Army.
The biopic will go on floors this April and a source close to the project informed a leading daily saying, “Sid will start off shooting the college portions at DAV College in Chandigarh where Vikram studied. From there the shoot will move to Palampur where the captain lived with his family.”
Notably, Captain Vikram Batra was an officer of the Indian Army, posthumously awarded with the Param Vir Chakra, India’s highest and most prestigious award for valour, for his actions during the 1999 Kargil War in Kashmir between India and Pakistan. He led one of the toughest operations in mountain warfare in Indian history. He was often referred to as ‘’Sher Shah’’ (“Lion King”) in the intercepted messages of the Pakistan Army.
The film is expected to hit the theatres in the first half of 2020. Besides, Marjaavan and Vikram Batra biopic, Sidharth will also be seen in ‘Jabariya Jodi’ with his ‘Hasee To Phasee’ co-star Parineeti Chopra.
