Netflix, Amazon partners with Anushka Sharma’s Company In $54 Million Deal

OTT giants, including Netflix Inc. and Amazon.com Inc., have partnered with Indian production house Clean Slate Filmz Pvt. to release movies and web series worth about 4 billion rupees ($54 million). The partnership is the result of the current battle for content in one of the world’s largest entertainment markets.

Anushka Sharma owned production house, Clean Slate Filmz Pvt. is preparing to release eight films and web series on streaming sites, Netflix and Amazon. Reportedly, not only that but the production is also looking to expand its horizon as it looks for some other platforms for the tie-up. They have planned to push the content in the next 18 months.

Karnesh Ssharma, the studio’s 37-year-old co-founder, who is also Anushka Sharma’s brother, declined to provide a full list of the platforms before they were officially announced.

As per the reports, the Netflix spokesperson has revealed that they will be releasing three new projects with Anushka’s Clean Slate Filmz. However, Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Due to the global pandemic, many cinema halls and film shoots were shut down across the country. However, the release roster is a sign that film production is recovering from the financial and logistical disruption unleashed by the Covid-19 pandemic.

On the other hand, the pandemic rose the demand of the OTT platforms as people were forced to consume more entertainment online. This exposed around 1.4 billion of India’s population to a variety of genres of films and series on an unprecedented scale.

The increasing numbers of online streaming have started a competition for all OTT platforms to grab the best content among streaming giants. They are looking to benefit from smaller but edgier studios like Anushka’s Clean Slate Filmz.
