‘Jalegi tere baap ki’: Adipurush brutally trolled for Hanuman’s dialogues

Hours after the release of the movie, fans took to social media to call out the makers for ‘tapoori’ dialogues for Lord Hanuman

Om Raut’s Adipurush was finally released in theatres on June 16. The Hindu epic Ramayana landed in controversy on the day makers shared its first teaser. Amid the new and old controversies, the movie made headlines for all the wrong reasons. Hours after the release of the movie, fans took to social media to call out the makers for ‘tapoori’ dialogues for Lord Hanuman and Ravana’s character in the film.

In one particular scene of Adipurush, where Devdatta Nage plays Hanuman and Vatsal Sheth plays Indrajeet, has highly disappointed the fans. Taking to the Twitter, many expressed how some of the dialogues are cringe, like, “Jo hamari behno ko haath lagayenge, unki lanka laga denge,” “Teri bua ke bageecha hai jo hawa khane aa gaya?” and “Jali na teri? ab aur jalegi.”

In another scene, Indrajeet asks Hanuman, “jali kya? (Is it burning). To this Hnauman responds, “kapda tere baap ka, tel tere baap la……Jalegi bhi tere baa ki (the cloth and oil belong to your father, his will burn).”

Among many other things, the dialogues made a lot of noise. People are furious at the cringe, chapri, and tapori dialogues given to Lord Hanuman.

Many viewers compared Adipurush to the 1988-89 TV series Ramayan by Ramanand Sagar, often considered the definitive adaptation of the epic.

Now the Writer of the movie, Manoj Muntashir, who has written the dialogues recently defended the writings. In a recent interview, Manoj said that these words have been used by people in oral retellings of the Ramayana for ages. Further, he added that grandmothers narrate the epic using similar language.

After a bit of his interview went viral, Twitter users slammed him for his comments, and many called him ‘shameless’ for his dialogue.

Adipurush was released across 6500 screens in India, one of the widest releases for any Indian film. Despite the mixed reviews, Prabhas, Kriti Sanon, and Saif Ali Khan’s starrer Adipurush is expected to break several records at the box office.
