Complaint filed against Ranbir Kapoor for hurting religious sentiments

A complaint was filed against Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor and his family members for hurting religious sentiments. The complaint was filed by two advocates at Ghatkopar police in Mumbai.

According to the complaint, the actor allegedly insulted the Sanatan Dharm and hurt the religious sentiments of the complainant referring to an incident during a Christmas celebration lunch.

Referring to a recent viral video of the actor with his family during an annual Christmas lunch at Kunal Kapoor’s residence, Advocate Ashish Rai and Pankaj Mishra pointed out that the actor insulted the Sanatan Dharm by saying “Jai Mata di” while lighting a cake that was covered in wine.

The viral video shows Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt and their family members sitting at the lunch table. Kunal Kapoor can be seen sitting in front of the Christmas cake. In the video Zahan Kapoor, pours wine over the cake following which Ranbir Kapoor lights up the cake while saying ‘Jai Mata Di’.

The advocates said that fire god was first prayed to before the other deities. So, the act of Ranbir chanting Jai Mata Di while celebrating another religions festival and using intoxicants, which is prohibited in Hindu religion, has hurt their religious sentiments. They have called the act as criminal.

According to the complaint, this type of criminal act has hurt the religious sentiments of the complainant and Sanatan Dharmis. The complaint further said that the circulation of this type of video can jeopardised law and order.

He wants to register an FIR against Kapoor under section 295 A, 298, 500, and 34 for deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs. However, no FIR has been registered against Ranbir Kapoor and his family members so far.
