Bollywood actress Anjali Patil fell prey to a cyber fraud and lost a whooping Rs 5.79 lakh last week when she received a call from an employee of FedEx Courier company.

Reports say, Anjali receives a call from an employee named Deepak Sharma and said that were drugs in a parcel with her name on it. The parcel was bound to Taiwan and has been seized by the Customs department along with her Aadhar card. She was also asked to go to the Mumbai cyber police.

She received a Skype call from Mumbai Cyber police from an indiviual named Banerjee. He immediately said that Anjali’s aadhar car has been linked to three bank accounts which were involved in money laundering case and demanded Rs 96, 525 for the verification process.

He then told her that the bank officials were also involved in the scam and demanded Rs 4,83,291 from her to close the case and avoid police case.

After few days, she shared her ordeal to her landlord after she realised that she had fallen to a cyber scam.

Later, the actor lodged a complaint at the DN Nagar police and registered a case. The police have started a probe into the matter.
