‘Badhai Ho’ Creates Magic At Box Office; ‘Namaste England’ Fails To Impress
Mumbai: The festive weekend saw the clash of two big releases at the box office- Ayushmann Khurrana and Sanya Malhotra’s ‘Badhai Ho’ and Arjun Kapoor-Parineeti Chopra starrer ‘Namaste England.’ However, if current box office figures are anything to go by, then it is evident that Namaste England has lost the battle as the film has failed impress the audiences.
‘Namaste England’ started at a slow pace and collected only Rs 1.90 crore on Day 1. This was followed by Rs 2 crore on its second day making the film’s total collection stand at Rs 3.9 crore. It does not seem that the film will pick up pace on Sunday too. While Arjun and Parineeti’s pairing and awesome chemistry was loved by the audience in ‘Ishaqzaade’, their performance in ‘Namaste England’ has received mostly negative reviews.
On the other hand, ‘Badhaai Ho’ starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Sanya Malhotra, and Neena Gupta had a phenomenal start at the box-office. On its day one, the film collected a total of Rs 7.29 crore. The film marked a tremendous growth of 60 % on its second day with estimated collection of Rs 11.67 on Friday. The film’s total earnings now stand at Rs 18.96 crore.
Emerging as one of the biggest hits this year, the Amit Ravindernath Sharma film is about a family dealing with an unplanned pregnancy of an elderly couple. With great performances by starcast, positive reviews by critics and good word of mouth publicity, the comedy flick is expected to pick up pace in the weekdays ahead and rake in huge moolah at the box office.
