Ace Filmmaker Mani Ratnam Hospitalised

Chennai: Veteran filmmaker Mani Ratnam, known for films like ‘Roja’, ‘Bombay’ and ‘Yuva’, was admitted to Chennai’s Apollo Hospital today, after he complained of chest pain and uneasiness.

The director was admitted just for a routine check-up process after he complained of chest pain. However, some media houses reported that Mani Ratnam was hospitalised due to cardiac issues.

The Hospital, on the other hand, asserted that Ratnam had gone to the hospital over acidity-related issues and was not admitted due to cardiac-related problems.

The speculation regarding heart issues may have been triggered by the fact that the filmmaker had suffered cardiac problems while working on films ‘Yuva’ and ‘Raavan’ in 2004 and 2009.

On the work front, Mani Ratnam is busy on his next project- a period film starring biggies like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Vikram, Amala Paul, Jayaram Ravi, Karthi, and Anushka Shetty.
