Stock Market updates: Sensex touches new record high, Nifty above 21,700
With a fresh record high, the Indian benchmark indices BSE Sensex was over 72,000 and NSE Nifty opened above 21,700 on Thursday.
New Delhi: With a fresh record high, the Indian benchmark BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty opened higher on Thursday. The NSE Nifty was also trading in green over 21,700 mark in the opening session.
At 9.15, the Sensex was up 324.52 points or 0.40 percent at 72,362.95, and the Nifty was up 60.25 points or 0.28 percent at 21,715.00.
A 10, 11am, the Sensex was up 229.09 points or 0.32 per cent to trade at 72,267.02, while the Nifty 50 climbed 59.05 points or 0.27 per cent to trade at 21,713.80.
The Nifty Bank soared while the Nifty It was trading lower on Thursday. Meanwhile, the S & P BSE SmallCap was trading in green in the early session today.
The stocks that led the gain on Nifty are NTPC, JSW Steel, BPCL, Tata Steel, and SBI Life Insurance. Eicher Motors, Bajaj Auto, Infosys, UltraTech Cement, and Britannia Industries were top losers today.
