Stock market today: Sensex rises to 116 points to 71,188, Nifty rises to 21,630

New Delhi: The Benchmark equity indices Sensex and the Nifty opened higher on Tuesday amid strong global cues. The 30-share BSE Sensex climbed 116.42 points to 71,188.91 points and the broader Nifty soared up to 14.80 points to 21,630.85 points.
At 9.20 am, the Sensex was up 0.2 percent at 71,239, while Nifty gained 0.1 percent to 21,653.
At 11.15 am, the Sensex soared 547 points upwards to 71,628.99 and the Nifty is at 21,764.20 with a gain of 148.15 points.
Tata Steel, JSW Steel, PowerGrid, and Wipro faced losses, while ICICI Bank, NTPC, ITC, and Kotak Bank were trading in green in the Sensex.
On Monday, the Sensex closed 523 points, or 0.73 per cent lower at 71,072.49 points, and the Nifty concluded 166.45 points or 0.76 per cent down at 21,616.05 points.
