Stock market today: Sensex drops over 500 points, Nifty below 21,500

New Delhi: Indian equity benchmark indices continued their downward spiral in trade on Thursday. The BSE Sensex opened at 71,111.01, down 390 points or 0.55% while Nifty50 was down 137 points or 0.64% at 21,434.75,
At 10.29, the Sensex plunged 400.23 points or 0.56 per cent to trade at 71,100.73 while the Nifty was down 150.00 points or 0.70 per cent at 21,421.95.
It is expected that Sensex will dip below the 71,000 mark today. The Sensex plunged over 1 per cent while Nifty50 dropped over 500 points on Wednesday.
All the sectoral indices are trading in the red. The top gainers on the Nifty were Tata Motors, Adani Ports, Reliance Industries, Axis Bank, and Bharti Airtel while major losers were LTIMindtree, HDFC Bank, Asian Paints, Power Grid Corp, and SBI Life Insurance.
