Stock Market: Adani Enterprises, Wipro, Nestle India are the top gainers on Nifty

Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Britannia Industries, Wipro, and Nestle India were among the top gainers on the Nifty.

New Delhi: Indian equity benchmarks BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty 50 surged on the last trading day of the week after opening with minor gains earlier in the day. The Nifty index hit an intraday high of 18,089.2, crossing the 18,000 mark after 44 trading sessions. FMCG, oil, and gas shares traded in the green, while consumer durable shares traded with losses.

Domestic cues for investors are India Inc.’s additional financial results and Ultratech Cement’s earnings later in the day.

Adani Enterprises, Adani Ports, Britannia Industries, Wipro, and Nestle India were among the top gainers on the Nifty. Axis Bank, ONGC, HCL Technologies, JSW Steel, and Titan Company lost the most in the Nifty pack.

Tata Metalik’s net profit increased 5.9 per cent and came to Rs 55.6 crore as compared to Rs 52.5 crore in the corresponding period a year ago.

Raymond Ltd. shares plunged 6 per cent on Friday to Rs 1,612 while those of Godrej Consumer Products Ltd dropped 5 per cent after two companies announced a deal for Raymond’s FMCH business.

Shares of agri-sciences company PI Industries surged over 9 per cent on Friday after the company announced twin acquisitions to enter the pharma API and Contract Developmentry and Manufacturing Organisation (CDMO) spaces.

Anil Singhvi says cement prices are expected to rise in either May or June. If the hike does not take place in either of these months, October could witness a price hike.
