Sensex up 200 pts, Nifty above 18,750; Infosys gains

Domestic markets on Tuesday opened higher with BSE benchmark Sensex jumping 196.74 points, or 0.31 per cent to open at 63,166.74.

Mumbai: Domestic markets on Tuesday opened higher with BSE benchmark Sensex jumping 196.74 points, or 0.31 per cent to open at 63,166.74, while broader NSE Nifty50 climbed 66.30 points, or 0.35 per cent to 18,757.50.

The jump in key indices was led by Infosys and HDFC Bank. The top gainers in the early trade were HDFC Life, M&M, Asian Paints, ONGC, Hindalco, JSW Steel, Apollo Hospital, Tata Consumer, Bajaj Finserv, Power Grid, Bharti Airtel, and Axis Bank.

Meanwhile, the Nifty Metal gained 0.76 per cent, Nifty Realty jumped 0.65 per cent, the media index climbed 0.57 per cent, and the IT index rose 0.52 per cent. The Nifty Smallcap 50 jumped 0.62 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 250 climbed 0.61 per cent, Nifty Microcap 250 jumped 0.63 per cent, Nifty Smallcap 100 gained 0.59 per cent, and Nifty Midsmallcap 400 rose 0.56 per cent.

In early trade, Infosys jumped 0.80 per cent after the IT giant on Monday following its announcement that it has entered into a $454 million deal with Denmark-based Danske Bank to accelerate the lender’s digital transformation.
