Sensex falls over 500 points, Nifty slips below 19000
The BSE Sensex opened at 63,774.16 down 274.90 points, while the NSE Nifty 50 dropped down 0.49% to open at 19,027.25.
New Delhi: The benchmark equity indices opened lower on Thursday. The BSE Sensex opened at 63,774.16 down 274.90 points, while the NSE Nifty 50 dropped down 0.49% to open at 19,027.25.
Meanwhile, the broader indices also opened in the negative territory. The Bank Nifty index was trading at 42,708.40, down 123.60 points in the opening session. The other sectoral indices also posted negative openings today.
All the sectoral indices are trading in the red. The auto, capital goods, pharma, IT, metal, realty and power have slipped 1-2 percent each. Tech Mahindra, Adani Enterprises, M&M, Bajaj Finserv and Bajaj Finance are the top losers on the Nifty.
