Rupee Appreciates 2 Paise At 68.51 Against US Dollar

Mumbai: The Rupee on Tuesday surged 2 paise higher to 68.51 against the U.S. dollar in early trade, ahead of the Federal Reserve’s policy meet.

Forex dealers opined that the dollar’s weakness against some currencies overseas and an increased selling of the American unit by exporters and banks supported the upward spree of the Rupee.

On Monday, the Rupee had surged by 57 paise to close at an over seven-month high of 68.53 against the U.S. dollar, marking a sixth consecutive session of gains amid sustained foreign fund inflows and narrowing trade deficit.

Meanwhile, the benchmark BSE Sensex was trading higher by 83.10 points, or 0.22%, to 38,178.17 in early trade.
