BSE and NSE open for trading today; Sensex above 71,920, Nifty near 21,700

The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) Nifty opened on a positive note on Saturday

New Delhi: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) are open for trading today. The stock markets will observe a trading holiday on Monday that is January 22, 2024 instead.

The benchmark indices opened in green today. In the early session, the Sensex rose 250.08 points or 0.35 per cent to 71,933.31 and the Nifty gained 75.80 points or 0.35 per cent to the 21,698.20 mark. The broader indices opened in mixed territory, with gain led by Largecap and Smallcap stocks.

The major gainers on Sensex were HDFC Bank, Bajaj Finance, PowerGrid, NTPC, Sun Pharma and ICICI Bank, ITC, Bajaj Finserv. HUL, HCL Tech, Wipro, and UltraTech were among the major laggards.
