2022 Mahindra Scorpio spotted testing in Leh, Know design details

India’s leading vehicle manufacturer Mahindra and Mahindra is reportedly preparing to launch the next generation of Mahindra Scorpio SUV in the Indian market in a new avatar soon. The new generation model will replace the existing Scorpio and is said to come with major changes.

Reports have suggested that the company will use a new platforms, new technology and engine for the 2022 Scorpio.

Mahindra Scorpio is one of the most popular vehicles in the Indian SUV market. This Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) from Mahindra is being sold in the country for nearly two decades.

The new model of Scorpio was recently spotted several times during testing. Now, the 2022 Mahindra Scorpio SUV has once again seen testing in the hilly areas of ​​Leh.

As per media reports, a convoy of the next generation model of Mahindra cars including seven to eight vehicles were seen on the Leh-Manali highway. The Thar was at the fore in this convoy of Mahindra vehicles. The next gen Scorpio was said to be one of the vehicles among the envoy.

The vehicles were reportedly passing through the high mountain road with almost zero visibility. The vehicle has their hazard lamps switched on and the dynamic turn indicators were seen to be working.

In addition, the report also revealed that the new generation Mahindra Scorpio will also be bigger than the current model. The new SUV will witness many major changes in the exterior look as well as the interior. The new Scorpio is expected to have new advanced features and technology. It might come equipped with a 360 degree camera.

Interior and features

The spy images revealed that the new 2022 Scorpio will feature a centrally placed touchscreen infotainment system with vertically stacked air vents on either side. And the buttons and dials for infotainment settings will be placed below the air vents.

The SUV was also seen with a dial-control temperature setting and a buttons for AC mode. The spy pictures also shows the SUV with a conventional handbrake rather than the electric handbrake. The new SUV, it includes three-spoke flat-bottom steering. The SUV has several buttons for cruise control and media functions. It is not clear from this picture whether the driver side is fully digital or not, although it is likely to be a full digital unit.

Engine and power

There is no official information about the details of the engine specifications of the next generation model of Mahindra Scorpio yet. However, it is rumored that the new generation Scorpio is expected to get a 2.0-litre mStallion petrol engine and a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel motor. Both these engine units was also used on the Thar SUV. The new-gen SUV could also get an automatic transmission variant.
