Renault Kardian SUV has been launched in the global markets. The SUV will initially go on sale in South American markets followed by some other markets. The Kardian SUV is based on CMF modular platform and is focused for the South American markets.

Renault Kardian is the smallest SUV offered by the company in the South American markets. It is the equivalent of the Renault Kiger that is sold in the Indian market. For those who are unknown, the Kiger is not available in markets outside India. The purpose of the Kardian is to capture the markets where there is demand for smaller/compact SUVs. The Kardian SUV will be built in Brazil and then in Morocco. The Kardian is 4.12 meters in length. The CMF platform on which the SUV is based will offer as many as eight models that will be sold globally.

A 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine powers the Renault Kardian. The engine offers 125hp power and 220Nm of torque.  Comparatively, the Renault Kiger’s 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine offers 100hp of power and 160Nm of torque. The gearbox on the Kardian is six-speed DCT while the Kiger gets a CVT automatic gearbox. The second generation of the Duster is already on sale in Brazil. The next generation of the Duster will be based on the CMF-B platform and will be built alongside Kardian. The global debut of the next generation of the Duster will take place on November 29.

When it comes to interior, the Renault Kardian SUV gets 8-inch touchscreen infotainment, drive mode selector, four-spoke steering wheel, stylish dashboard and much more. The higher variants of the car get 17-inch alloy wheels.

In terms of outer design, the Renault Kardian gets split headlamps, double-layer grille, huge front and rear bumpers, faux aluminum inserts and many more. The SUV gets a coupe like design along with great ground clearance and chunky cladding on wheel arches. On the back of the SUV, we get C-shaped design with stylish alloy wheels, roof rails, shark-fin antenna and chrome bits.

Availability in India

The Renault Kardian is quite same as the Renault Kiger and we don’t expect the company to offer it in the Indian market. The Renault Kiger is based on the CMF-A Plus platform which also underpins the Triber as well as Nissan Magnite.
