Renault Duster-based Bigster 7-seat SUV road test kicks off

The Bigster seven-seater SUV of Renault Duster has been spotted for the first time during the road test, ahead of the global debut in the latter part of the year. Reportedly, the SUV will go on sale as the Dacia Bigster first, and a Renault version will follow it later.

The Bigster seven-seater SUV will have a lot similarities with the recently unveiled Duster SUV. As per reports, the Bigster will be around 300 mm longer than the new Duster, which measures 4.34 meters. Meanwhile, the wheelbase will be slightly longer and the rear door will be bigger than the Duster. These features will remain similar to that of the Hyundai Alcazar.

Renault Duster’s Bigster 7-seat SUV is expected to offer either a 1.6-litre four-cylinder petrol hybrid or a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol. The Bigster comes with a 1.0-litre petrol-LPG option in some markets; there is no diesel in any market right now.

When it comes to the interior of the SUV, it will have having 7-inch digital instrument cluster along with a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen system. The higher trims are expected to offer more cabin features as compared to the lower trim variants.

Reportedly, the Bigster will get 4×2 and 4×4 options, depending on the market. Just like the new Duster, it won’t get a proper 4×4 setup like the ladder-frame-based Jimny.

The new Duster is all set to make a comeback in the second half of 2025, and the Bigster will launch in India only after the Duster. After being launched, the Bigster will rival the Tata Safari, Mahindra XUV700 , and MG Hector Plus while the Duster will compete with the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Grand Vitara, Honda Elevate, and Toyota Hyryder.
