South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai has launched three new trims of its popular SUV Alcazar in India. The new trims include a base model as well as two other models. The current base model of the SUV is the Hyundai Alcazar Prestige Executive trim with a 2.0-litre petrol engine. The new Hyundai Alcazar Prestige Executive trim in India costs Rs. 15.89 lakh, ex-showroom. It is currently the least expensive option in Alcazar’s lineup and costs up to Rs 2.50 lakh less than the following ‘Platinum’ option.

The Alcazar SUV’s variation lineup has undergone changes thanks to Hyundai Motor India. This South Korean automaker has increased the price of the Prestige Executive trim, making it the most affordable variant of Alcazar model.

Prestige executive edition price and features

The price of Alcazar’s Prestige Executive variants ranges from Rs 15.89 lakh to Rs 17.77 lakh. It is Rs 55,000 less expensive than the now-discontinued Prestige model and costs up to Rs 2.50 lakh less than the next option, Platinum. The Prestige Executive Petrol MT is powered by 2.0 Petrol engine while the Prestige Executive Diesel MT variant gets a 1.5 litre Diesel engine. Similarly, the Prestige Executive (O) Diesel AT variant also gets a 1.5 litre Diesel engine. Hyundai India has updated the prices for the SUV on its official website. The details about the prices are mentioned below.

                         Variant                Price (ex-showroom)
Prestige Executive Petrol MT Rs 15.89 lakh
Prestige Executive Diesel MT Rs 16.30 lakh
Prestige Executive (O) Diesel AT Rs 17.77 lakh

In terms of specifications, India offers two engine choices for the Hyundai Alcazar. It has a 2.0-liter gasoline engine with naturally aspirated fuel that produces 156 hp and 191 Nm of torque. The other engine is a 1.5-liter diesel powerplant that produces 113 hp and 250 Nm of torque. The 6-speed manual transmission and 6-speed torque-converter AT that are included with both engines are coupled to them.

The big 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that was previously a standard feature across the range is no longer available in the new Alcazar Prestige Executive. Instead, this new grade has a smaller 8.0-inch screen, which is already available on Hyundai Creta mid-spec models.

The new Prestige Executive trim for the Alcazar is perhaps a reaction to the chip shortage. Since semiconductors are now in short supply, carmakers must move quickly and creatively to ensure timely delivery of automobiles, even if doing so means eliminating some features. Larger screens with more functionality rely more heavily on semiconductors.

The BlueLink linked car technology and over-the-air update capabilities are lost on the 8.0-inch display. Additionally, it has a single mic configuration as opposed to the two that were formerly included with the Prestige trim. Fortunately, it is not too horrible because it still has voice controls and wireless capabilities for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Notably, this smaller screen has physical knobs and buttons that the larger 10.25-inch screen does not.

Other changes made by Hyundai include omission of the automatic inside rearview mirror with an SOS button, the burglar alarm, and the chrome-finished outside door handles in favour of a manual inside rearview mirror and body-colored door handles.
