Pune-based manufacturer Bajaj is planning to bring a more affordable version of its Chetak electric scooter in India. The electric two-wheeler brand has reportedly started testing the most affordable variant of the Chetak on roads of the country. The spy shots of test mule has surfaced online.

The spy shots show the prototype of the Chetak e-scooter with a hub-mounted electric motor. The rear wheel of the scooter seems to have been entirely covered with a plastic cover, which is not seen in the current Chetak.

The prototype of the affordable Chetak electric scooter was seen using a double-sided swingarm. The current model uses a mid-mounted motor equipped with multi-spoke alloy wheels, which will also likely be seen in the new Chetak.

The spotted Chetak scooter hints that the manufacturer is looking to introduce a more inexpensive version of the Chetak. The new affordable model of the Bajaj Chetak could be sit between a sub-Rs. 1 lakh price range. In comparison, the Chetak retails at Rs 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom).

With the FAME incentives significantly reduced, many electric manufacturers have launched lower-spec models of their brand. So, Bajaj is also expected to follow in their footstep and launch an affordable model to boost sale figures.
