CM declares 33% quota for women in BJD tickets for Lok Sabha

Kendrapara: Making a big announcement during his Kendrapara visit to attend a women’s Self Help Group (SHG) conclave under ‘Mission Shakti’ at Baro village, Odisha CM Naveen Patnaik today declared 33 per cent quota for women in the allocation of Lok Sabha tickets of Biju Janata Dal (BJD).

By dubbing Kendrapara as the soil of legendary Biju Patnaik who took several development initiative for women, Naveen assured that Odisha will send 33 per cent women to Parliament in the coming elections.

“Kendrapara soil is Biju Babu’s soil. He has shown a new path to the whole of India by ensuring 33% reservation for women in panchayatiraj institution in 1990. Your government had last year had passed a resolution for 33 percent reservation for women in Parliament and Assembly. I have also given a proposal to all political parties in the country in this regard. I announce from this historic land of Kendrapara that 33 percent women will represent Odisha in Parliament. India is going to be a leading country in the world in the coming days and women’s reservation will play a  vital role in this direction,” Naveen said while making the announcement.

While making the announcement the Odisha CM also insisted that, if India wants to be developed like USA and China then women’s reservation is the answer.

The Chief Minister also sanctioned Rs 1 crore for Mission Shakti Bhawan in Kendrapara.
