Malkangiri: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) in Malkangiri district has been arrested for his alleged link with ganja smugglers in the area.
The cop has been identified as Jayadash Khara. He is posted in the Kartanpalli area under Mathili police station. Other than Khara, three other accused have also been arrested for alleged ganja smuggling.
Based on a reliable piece of information about Khara’s involvement in assisting the peddlers in Ganja smuggling from the district to outside Odisha, two SDPOs including Suvendu Patra and Anshuman Dwivedi of Malkangiri Police formed a special squad to arrest the cop and the ganja peddlers.
The cops seized around 420 kilograms of ganja, a laptop, Rs 10,000 cash, a car, and two motorcycles from their possession. Notably, all of them were planning to transport the Ganja to Chhattisgarh.
