New Delhi: The deadline for filing Income Tax Returns for the assessment year 2019-20 ends on August 31, Saturday.
The IT department had yesterday dismissed social media reports which claimed that the government has extended the due date for filing of ITRs by a month.
In a tweet, the IT department has advised people to file Returns by today.
It has come to the notice of CBDT that an order is being circulated on social media pertaining to extension of due dt for filing of IT Returns. It is categorically stated that the said order is not genuine.Taxpayers are advised to file Returns within extended due dt of 31.08.2019 pic.twitter.com/m7bhrD8wMy

On 23rd July, the government had extended the due date for filing income tax returns by individuals for the financial year 2018-19 by a month till 31st August. The earlier deadline was 31st July.
