Paradip: At least one person was killed and two others sustained critical injuries after a pickup van hit a truck near Bhutumundai on Cuttack-Paradip road under Paradip Lock police limits here today.
The victims in the crash are yet to be identified.
The mishap took place this morning while the pickup van carrying passengers was en-route to Paradip and the driver lost control over the wheels to hit the truck moving in the same direction from the rear.
While the pickup van got completely mangled in the crash, one of the passengers boarding it died on the spot. The rest two were rushed to SCB Medical College and Hospital in critical conditions later.
Irate locals blocked Cuttack-Paradip road protesting the incident and demanded suitable compensation to the kin of deceased.
