FIFA World Cup 2018: France beat Belgium 1-0 to enter final

Saint Petersburg: France reached the FIFA World Cup 2018 final after a second-half header from Samuel Umtiti gave them a 1-0 win against Belgium in an absorbing first semi-final here in Russia on Tuesday night.

Belgium took early control of midfield with France content to sit deep and eliminate the threat of counter-attacks from Eden Hazard and Kevin de Bruyne.

Goalkeepers Hugo Lloris and Thibaut Courtois both made smart saves to make sure an intriguing game remained scoreless at the interval.

The French would now look to lift the trophy for the second time following their triumph on home soil in 1998 when they face the winner of today’s semi-final between England and Croatia.

Final will be played in Moscow on Sunday.
