Mercury rises to 41 degrees or more in 9 places in Odisha, IMD predicts temperature to rise by 4-6 degrees in next 5 days
Bhubaneswar: Mercury rose to 41 degrees or more in nine places of Odisha today with Paralakhemundi turning out to be hottest at 42.8 degrees, informed the Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar.
Nayagarh was followed by Paralakhemundi as it sizzled at a temperature of 42.2 degree Celsius today. the other seven places where the mercury rose to 41 degrees or more are Bhubaneswar (41.8), Balangir (41.8), Angul (41.7), Malkangiri (41.5), Baripada (41.2), Nuapada (41.2) and Titlagarh (41).
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) also has predicted that temperature will rise by 4-6 degrees in the next 5 days. No large change in maximum temperature (Day Temperature) during next 48 hours and gradual rise by 4-6°C during subsequent 3 days at many places over the district of Odisha, the weather department said.

- ORANGE WARNING: Heat wave to severe heat wave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Jagatsinghpur and Kendrapada.
- Yellow Warning: Heat wave condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Khurda, Ganjam, Gajapati, Nayagarh, Jagatsinghpur, Kendrapada, Nuapada, Cuttack, Jajpur, Balasore and Bhadrak.
- Hot & Humid weather condition very likely to prevail at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam and Gajapati.
- Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Mayurbhanj, Bhadrak, Angul, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Kendrapada, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Nawarangpur, Nuapada, Balangir, Kandhamal and Kalahandi.

- Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Ganjam, Gajapati and Nayagarh.
