Puri: Tension ran high in Puri town after dead body of a youth wrapped in a bedsheet was found from a drain near ITI College in Penthakata area under mysterious circumstances on Sunday.
While the deceased could not have been identified so far, he was seen wearing a Bermuda pant and a vest. Injury mark was also seen on his neck pointing at possible foul play.
Some commuters first spotted the pack floating in the drain in the morning and called up Sea Beach Police Station suspecting something fishy. Cops reached the spot and rushed the body for post-mortem after fishing it out from the nullah.
Meanwhile, Puri SP Sarthak Sarangi and City DSP Prashant Patnaik have also reached the spot and taken stock of the situation.
“From preliminary investigation it seems that the body has been dumped here after being brought from somewhere else. A towel was found near the deceased who was spotted with ligature mark on the neck suggesting at death due to asphyxiation. However, everything would come clear once the autopsy is completed,” said Sarangi.
