Bhubaneswar: Odia lad and Sundargarh pride Dipsan Tirkey is all excited to play his maiden international tournament at home. Though, the young lad made a debut during the Europe tour this year, he will be playing his first major tournament in Bhubaneswar during the Hockey World League Finals scheduled to be held between December 1 and 10 at Kalinga Stadium.
“This is my first international tournament at home. I have been waiting long for this moment. I can’t express my excitement. I have played Hockey India League matches here but HWL will be different,” the local boy said at the sidelines of the tournament.
Born in Sundargarh district of Odisha, Dipsan had logged headlines for his performance in the junior team as well as Hockey India League. He was also part of the team which clinched the Junior World Cup and Asia Cup-2017. Now the young player wants to give his best during the HWL Finals.
“The last camp was very enriching. The fitness is also proper. We hope to put up a good show,” he says.
All praise for young skipper Manpreet he said, “He is a great support. In fact all the senior players are guiding and supporting us well.”
