Angul: Locals caught two youths red-handed and thrashed them brutally at Badadanda Sahi of Purunagarh village under Bantala police limits last night, while looting a temple in the area.
While the name of the accused duo has not been identified yet, they are suspected to be from Majhidhipa Sahi of Gobara village near Talcher area.
Some residents in Purunagarh village first heard some weird sound coming from the premises of Maa Bhairabi temple in the wee hours today. Smelling a rat in the incident, they immediately came out of their homes and nabbed the looters duo. By that time the looters had loaded the generator, temple bells, temple donation box, and several other valuable items on a vehicle after looting them from the temple.
After nabbing the looter duo and seizing the loot items, locals thrashed them brutally and kept them locked in a room in the village for hours.
The accused were rescued by Bantala Police today morning and taken into custody.
