Banki: Launching a crackdown on drug peddlers, police seized at least two ganja-laden cars and arrested one woman after conducting a raid in Charichhak area under Baideswar police limits in Cuttack district on Thursday.
While the identification of the accused woman has not have been made, she is said to be a part of a larger drug racket.
Baideswar Police got a tip-off on two ganja laden cars which were seen near a cashew forest in Charichhak area in the morning. A police team which raided the spot immediately succeeded in seizing a Chevrolet Spark (Registration No. OR 02 AU 9303) along with a Tata Indica (OR 02 AF 4797) vehicle carrying a number of hemp packets. While a group of drug peddlers managed to escape during the raid, police arrested a woman from the spot.
Police have intensified efforts to nab the absconding peddlers and are trying to assess the exact cost of the seized drug.
