A Pakistani teenager has been arrested for allegedly murdering a taxi driver in Call of Duty game style in Karachi.

Karachi: A Pakistani teenager has been arrested for allegedly murdering a taxi driver in Karachi. The suspect Abdul Samad, claims he was inspired by the online game “Call of Duty” and wanted to replicate a carjacking scenario.

Samad confessed to the crime in a recorded statement to a reporter. He said he had booked an online cab and, during the journey, brandished a pistol and attempted to hijack the vehicle from the driver. When the driver refused to comply, Samad shot him dead.

The victim, Shahzaib, was a young online taxi driver who was attacked by the unidentified assailants in the Safoota Town area of Karachi. His father reported him missing after his phone was switched off.

Police investigations revealed that Shahzaid was traveling from Hyderabad to Karachi when he was killed. His father was able to locate the vehicle using the car’s tracker and blocked it in the Sachal area. He then informed the police.

Samad is the second person to be arrested in recent months for a crime inspired by a video game. In October, a Florida man was arrested for allegedly killing his roommate and injuring his girlfriend after believing they were part of a virtual reality game.
