Indian Navy evacuates injured crew member from hijacked vessel

Indian Navy warship INS Kochi helped rescue a crew member from the hijacked vessel MV Ruen who suffered a bullet injury in firing by pirates.

New Delhi: The Indian Navy evacuated an injured crew member from a hijacked vessel on December 18, 2023. He had suffered a bullet injury in firing by pirates. The matter was reported by ANI in a X post on Tuesday.

As per the information, Indian Navy warship INS Kochi helped rescue a crew member from the hijacked vessel MV Ruen who suffered a bullet injury in firing by pirates.

The Indian Navy held negotiations with the pirates and secured the release of the injured crew.

The victim was provided first aid treatment and later was dropped at a port in Oman for specialist treatment by the Indian Navy.

Reportedly, the hijacked ship had entered the territorial waters of Somalia.
